blogger post title

Hi there, today I want to talk about blogger post title! Have you ever paid attention to your Blogger blog post title? Blogger post title normally comes after blog homepage title which is not good for SEO. So we have to only display the post title without our blog home page title. It will increase its appearance in the search engines and will also boost your blog post ranking and position at the top.

Swapping

You can swap Blogger homepage title with post title to come after post title it will increase its search appearance in Google search.

After swapping it will look like below:

Here is how to make this swap. Before you proceed, please backup your template. Do this by going to Template > Backup/Restore > Download Full Template. This is necessary so that you can switch back to the old template if anything goes wrong while editing your template code.

1. Go to Template in Blogger Dashboard and click the Edit HTML. Now click inside the Template Editor & Press CTRL+F (Win) or Command+F (Mac). A search box will open.. Search for the following code

<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>

2. Now replace the above code with the following code

<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == “item”‘>
<title><data:blog.pageName/> | <data:blog.title/></title>
<b:else/>
<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title> </b:if>

Removing Homepage Title from Post Titles

If you don’t want to swap but completely remove the homepage title from post title follow steps below:

1. Search for the code <title> and find the code looking just like below:

<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;’>
<title><data:blog.pageName/>
|
<data:blog.title/></title>
</b:if>

2. Please make sure that the code is containing the item in it. Now just change above code to below!

<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;’>
<title><data:blog.pageName/></title>
</b:if>

Custom Title Display after Post Title

If you have a long homepage title you may want to display only a portion of your homepage title so you can add custom text after your post title as your homepage title, if your blog homepage title is way too long then you can make it short displaying only your blog name after post title or a custom text.

custom title

1. Just find this code:

<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;’>
<title><data:blog.pageName/></title>
</b:if>

2. Change it to code below and add a custom text as I added GeekZeekStuff between <title><data:blog.pageName/> | GeekZeekStuff</title> you can add | or – to separate your post title from blog homepage title as you wish.

<b:if cond=’data:blog.pageType == &quot;item&quot;’>
<title><data:blog.pageName/> | GeekZeekStuff</title>
